Course Overview

Our Catering course aims to provide learning opportunities for those with a passion for cooking who are considering a career in the Catering or Hospitality sectors. The course covers preparation and cooking of food, safe use of kitchen equipment, meal service and industry standard cleaning which will develop the knowledge skills and competence in progressing to employment or further education.

To further enhance the learner experience, learners will be offered the opportunity to participate in the industry-approved HACCP program and Barista training, adding to the solid foundation of knowledge gained. Our menu-planning focuses on healthy eating and we have successfully achieved awards from the Irish Heart Foundation.

Learners will also gain the opportunity to develop in a personal capacity as other modules in the course cover personal and interpersonal development and teamworking. Work Experience is a fundamental part of the course. As such, Learners are offered work-related supports to help with their progression.

Graduates of the course can progress to employment such as working in Restaurants, Bars, Hotels, Coffee-shops, etc. or if further education is the preference, TUS (former AIT) and Moate Business College are regular progression routes for Catering Course graduates.
